An elephant who suffered 50 years of maltreatment is heard crying as she is rescued

Elephants are the largest land animals in the world. They are exceptionally intelligent animals. As elephants have the largest brain of any land animal and three times as many neurons as humans, they have demonstrated impressive mental capabilities over time.

Life full of pain

An elephant who is 76 years old today endured the worst of his life. The elephant was reportedly captured and forced to beg for money on the streets by his masters, according to the news. He spent 50 years in captivity. Sometimes in cages, sometimes in freedom. Owners have changed constantly as he has been sold and resold for 50 years. They all treated him poorly and forced him to work all the time.

It got to the point where the elephant could no longer handle it. It no longer had the strength to keep going. His owners executed him at that point.

Rescue mission

Fortunately, the rescue workers at the park heard about the plan before it happened. Instead of killing the elephant, they rescued it. They reported that the elephant was deaf and blind. The spiked chains that bound his legs left him with chronic wounds. He had also been beaten, so he was in a lot of pain.

He was taken care of by rescuers on the big journey to a better life. The vet team was also so gentle with the elephant so he could gain his trust. Even though he looked hungry, he couldn’t eat anything because the suspense was too much- they said. Her injuries were being treated throughout.

As they approached the park, the elephant carefully reached out of the truck to smell his new home. Tears started streaming down his face as he rumbled. He wasn’t the only one crying. Rescuers who witnessed all of that were overcome with emotions. It looked like the elephant was aware that he was free at last.

What the elephant really deserves

When the elephant felt safe and settled in well, it managed to see heart-warming beginnings. The park’s visitors saw how the elephant would leave her enclosure and go straight to the river. He began exploring the grounds immediately. The mud pit was his favorite spot, and even blind he knew exactly where to find it.

Animals shouldn’t be tourists attraction

Sadly, this elephant’s story is not unique. Businesses around the world are cruel to elephants. Fortunately, there are courageous individuals who dedicate their lives to saving animals.
